About Us |
After School & Before School CareAn after school programme 3.00pm – 5.30pm & before school programme 7.00am – 8.30am is available every day during the school term. See separate booklet.AssembliesThe juniors have assembly on Friday morning at 10.00am. The seniors’ assembly is on Monday at 12.00 pm A Whole School assembly takes place at the end of teach term. You are invited to attend.
Attendance and PunctualityRegular and punctual attendance is very important. There are only 198 days in the school year and it is vital for children’s development that they utilise this time fully. Absenteeism and truancy is taken seriously and more than 10 days absences per year may be investigated.

When your child returns to school a written note is required by the classroom teacher explaining the absence.
Bible Year 4 / 5/ 6 are taken for half an hour bible instruction by a church group every Wednesday at 11am in the hall. All children attend unless no bible is stated on the enrolment form.
Communication with School Good communication between parents and teachers is a priority. If you have a particular query concerning your child, the process is as follows: · All matters should be discussed with the classroom teacher first. This may require more than one discussion · If the matter is not satisfactorily resolved, you may need to contact the Junior or Senior School Assistant Principal. · If it is appropriate, the matter will be referred to the Principal.

Dental NurseWe have a permanent clinic at Edmonton School. Phone 838 2402 to contact the dental nurse.
Discipline (Our Motto “Courtesy”) We aim to develop respect for other people and their property, consideration of and co-operation with others. When this is missing from the child’s behaviour we · Deal with it immediately with a verbal reminder. · Remove them from the situation and give them an opportunity to contemplate the consequences of their behaviour · Where cases of persistent or serious breaches occur parents will be contacted by the Principal / Assistant Principal We are a Cool School and use Peer Mediators.
Donations School donations are $50.00 per child ($40.00 per child if paid before 31st March) or $120.00 for 3 or more children. These may be paid in instalments – please see the office.
Enrolment Scheme Edmonton Primary School has an official enrolment and home zone policy operating. More information is available from the school office. We can often enrol some children from out of zone.
Finance and Management The Board of Trustees is the legal body that controls Edmonton Primary School. Any parent is welcome to attend the meetings of the trustees that are usually held on the third Tuesday of the month in the school staff room. If you have any issues to bring to the Board of Trustees attention this must be done in writing addressed to the Board Chair 7 days before the BOT meeting.
Homework (Seniors) Homework has a place for children where school activities are consolidated and extended with the support and encouragement of the Parents / Caregivers. Individual teachers will give you guidance to what they expect. Establishing a good homework ethic will pay good educational dividends.
Library / Computer Suite Each class is scheduled for a session in our School Library & Computer Suite every week.
Lunches Children can buy their lunches through the school. A copy of the current menu and prices can be obtained from the school office and the lunchroom. Orders for lunches are taken before school (between 8.30am and 8.55am) near the Assistant Principal’s office and lunches are delivered to classrooms at lunchtime.
Medication If your child is on medication please see the office about signing our authorisation form to allow us to administer medication. No medication is to be kept in a child’s school bag for safety reasons.
Newsletters A school newsletter goes home every Wednesday. These contain important information about coming events or items of particular interest. Please check with your children as they sometimes forget to give them to you.
Organisation of the school We have 1 RTLB and 7 SLS Teachers based at our school. There are 2 syndicates in the school.
The junior school is made up of 5-6 classes (Years 0 – 3). The Junior Assistant Principal manages this area.
The senior school is made up of 4 classes (Years 4 – 6). The Senior Assistant Principal manages this area.
Some of the classes are of mixed levels.
Public Health Nurse and Related Matters The nurse can be contacted through the school.
Pre-school Visits by New Entrants You are welcome to visit the school before your child begins. The way the child settles into school can be greatly enhanced by the induction he or she has. Visits are Thursday mornings – 8.55am – 11.00am (this includes morning tea time) for the three weeks before your child’s 5th birthday. (Please note there are no visits in December).
Reporting to Parents / Caregivers An information evening is held for parents / caregivers early Term 1. Parent interviews are held mid year. Children’s Portfolios are sent home twice a year, mid year with National Standards Report and end of year with school report.
Road Patrols School Road crossing is patrolled under teacher supervision between 8.30 and 8.50am and from 3.00 to 3.10pm. Children needing to cross Edmonton Road wait outside Room 13. At 3.10pm the duty teacher will ensure they cross Edmonton Road safely. Children needing to cross Vodanovich Road wait by the boat ready for the duty teacher to cross them safely at 3.05pm. Children must wait for the patrols before crossing these roads.
School Day School begins - 8.55am sharp Morning break - 10.30am to 11.00am Lunch - 12.30pm to 1.20pm School finishes - 3.00pm
School Uniform School uniform is compulsory. Red polo shirt (with collar), red sweatshirt. Black shorts, black track pants or black skirt. Shoes – suitable to take part in all school activities e.g. P.E. We recommend sports shoes or sandals All children must wear a hat at morning tea and lunchtime during Term 1 & Term 4. Uniforms can be purchased from PostiePlus. If you nominate Edmonton School when purchasing the uniform the school will receive 5% back as fundraising.
Sick Bay Mrs Wilson and Mrs McCarthy look after the Sick Bay. They will attend to your child and contact you if necessary. An emergency contact number is required for school records. Please ensure this is updated.
