WELCOME. I am the proud Principal of Edmonton Primary School. Having taught all primary class levels, including Intermediate in an integrated secondary school, my teaching experience has been comprehensive and extremely rewarding. Having held numerous Senior Teacher and Deputy Principal and teaching positions in state and private schools has given me a good grounding in how successful schools are organised and run. As a Reading Recovery and special needs teacher I developed a strong advocacy for less fortunate pupils. My degree in school organisation & management and a post graduate diploma in special education has provided me with the theoretical knowledge the job demands. Married with three adult children, having taught and lived in the West for 33 years, my teaching has been interspersed with a few years in the residential building and insurance industry. I am interested in boating, fishing, model building and aviation. I bring a mixture of skills and experience in dealing with various people from all backgrounds. I am extremely fortunate and privileged to work with such terrific staff, pupils and parents in a fantastic school.

School background
Edmonton School is located close to Henderson and the North Western Motorway. Our school has a large car park for safe and efficient pickup and drop off for your convenience. We value the fact that we are, in city terms, a small school with a country, family friendly atmosphere. This is significant because there is compelling new research about the benefits of so called boutique schools of this size i.e. under 300.
Our playgrounds are expansive, attractive, well planted for shade and environmentally safe. We have a brand new Super Dental Clinic, a special needs unit and eight attached special needs teachers who work across West Auckland.
This school places a strong emphasis on learning and achievement. We provide a rich supportive structure for all students to flourish academically, develop their strengths and have their needs met whilst retaining their unique individuality. Special programmes such as Reading Recovery, English for Speakers of Other Languages, Gifted and Talented, Te Reo, Kapa Haka and Pasifika Culture are taken by qualified teachers.
Our teachers are dedicated and experienced, are NZ trained and registered. They have a strong belief in on-going professional development. We are implementing the National Standards and new reporting format for our parents.
In addition to the above, there are opportunities for students to represent the school in different sports. We have a swimming programme in term 4 for all students. As part of outdoor education, the older students go on camp every two years. Every year we have a production involving either the junior or senior school.
